Job Summary
The Airport Operations Agent performs all functions and responsibilities associated with the safe operations of the Airport’s Airside/Landside, Security, and Terminal operations. The operations Agent is responsible for ensuring operation of the airport in a manner that is compliant with set rules, regulations, laws, and policies, coordinating with law enforcement, fire rescue, and medical personnel and activities in response to airport and aircraft emergencies. The position receives guidance and direction from, and reports to the Operations Supervisor, and the Operations and Maintenance Manager.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
• Knowledge of more complex work routines, rules, procedures, or operations; ability to operate higher-level specialized equipment.
• Ability to read and understand technical materials, reports, and journals.
• Performs daily inspections of airfield operations, and facilities to ensure compliance with the Airport Certification Manual under Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 139 and other applicable federal regulations; interprets and applies all information from FAA Advisory Circulars and Cert Alerts.
• Supports the Operations Supervisor & Operations Officers in observing the safety and security requirements of the Department. Monitors alarms, fire, and mechanical systems.
• Responds to incidents and/or accidents on the airfield, provides support and coordination with ARFF & mutual aid / first responders.
• Helps write and track work orders for repairs and maintenance of airport facilities and equipment.
• Maintains records of work performed each day and submits to supervisor.
• Issues and cancels notices to airmen (NOTAMS) on airfield conditions.
• Issues and records on a computerized system all airport identification badges, parking decals, taxicab permits and temporary ramp permits.
• Escorts authorized personnel and equipment within the Security Identification Display Area.
• Coordinates with the air traffic control tower to escort personnel and equipment on the airfield.
• Responds to questions and inquiries from the public, airport tenants, airlines, and governmental regulatory agencies.
• Performs paging and public address services in the airport terminal building.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor and Management Staff.
Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree (no experience), or associate's degree plus two years of experience, or high school graduation or GED plus four years of experience.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Ability to pass a personal, criminal and employment background check.
Independence & Judgement
Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems such as bad grammar, type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, when to change or sharpen blade on mower, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.
