Job Summary

The Golf Pro Shop Attendant must have excellent attention to detail & standards of cleanliness; anticipate customer needs; and excellent listening skills to be responsive to customer concerns, primarily about the conditions of the golf course and services offered at the golf center and communicate feedback to the golf team in order to provide excellent service. Must demonstrate knowledge in proper handling of money, basic computer programs, and ability to work unsupervised. Must maintain a positive costumer rapport and uphold a high-level customer service. Must be flexible in meeting the varying scheduling needs of the Brownsville Golf Center and may be required to work additional hours than scheduled, if necessary. Golf Pro Shop Attendant must be neat and well-groomed in accordance to the Brownsville Golf Center and Parks and Recreation Department dress code. The Golf Pro Shop Attendant is responsible in assisting the flow of golfers onto the golf course to ensure customer satisfaction, distributes golf carts for all golfers, and assist in maintaining the Brownsville Golf Center during events and create a safe environment for golfers and guests. The Golf Pro Shop Attendant position reports to the Golf Center Manager.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills

• Average skills; knowledge of commonly used work routines, rules, procedures, or operations; ability to use specialized equipment.
• Performs all operations of Pro Shop and Snack Bar
• Registers golf players for daily and weekly tee times including golf cart registration.
• Collects monies for Pro Shop sales and Snack Bar sales.
• Maintains inventory counts and daily register reports.
• Creates and organizes the tee sheet for the flow of golfers throughout the day.
• Maintains a general order of cleanliness in the Pro Shop and Snack Bar.
• Performs any related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience

High school graduation or GED plus one year of experience.

Special Certifications & Licenses

Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Independence & Judgement

Average judgment: must recognize and resolve problems such as type of procedure to apply, where to refer call or correspondence without specified destination, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.

General guidelines: occasionally requires interpretation of available options to apply to non-standard situations; day-to-day work drives priorities.

Supervisory & Responsibility

Does not supervise.

Financial Responsibility

Takes money (fines, fees, etc.), gives receipts, does own balancing; no decision making; handles petty cash.

Level & Frequency of Outside Contact

Frequent contact with the public or other organizations; interactions may require obtaining cooperation of people; courtesy and tact are required when dealing with moderately difficult or sensitive issues.

Physical Demands

Light physical effort; may require brief periods of heavy muscular exertion, such as standing, lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, etc. Ability to exert up to 35lbs. of force occasionally to move objects.

Responsibility for Equipment & Property

Not responsible for any equipment or property.

Working Conditions

Office job, no adverse conditions.
