Job Summary
The Accountant II manages and maintains accounting and financial records. The Accountant II is responsible for maintaining account records, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and performing various accounting functions. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
• Prepare journal entries, vouchers, audit schedules, quarterly reports, and financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, the annual audit for the City and the Quarterly Financial Report.
• Participate in the processing of account related information such as debt allocation, budget preparation, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Reconciles all funds, investments, and accounts for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Collects, enters, updates and maintains account information.
• Handles cash collections, accounts receivable billing, and cash receipt updating.
• Performs accounting functions in accordance with Federal, State and local laws.
• Gathers, organizes, analyzes, examines or evaluates data or information and may prescribe action based on such data or information.
• Coordinate with the Division Manager to process journal entries to various projects if needed.
• Prepares all financial reports for grants assigned Including setting up budgets in accounting software, preparing accurate and timely Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Monthly, Financial Statement Reports for Grants, and grant close outs.
• Reconciles grant activity and budgets.
• Participate in mandatory weekly and biweekly departmental meetings.
• Participates in meetings with other departments as required for assigned projects.
• Performs related tasks as necessary.
Minimum Education & Experience
Master’s degree, or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or related field. Plus, two years of experience.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
