Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Athletics Supervisor will plan, promote, organize, develop, administer, coordinate, supervise and evaluate youth programs and sports leagues; perform marketing, acquire funding, administer contracts and grants, request supplies, schedule staffing, and train staff; and performs related responsibilities as required. The Athletics Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that proper maintenance and repairs are being carried out at various city recreation facilities and forward work orders to maintenance personnel.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
• Assess, plan, develop, oversee, implement, schedule, and evaluate youth recreation programs, sports leagues, curriculum, and facility use at various Parks and Recreation facilities and recruit community volunteer coaches, officials, and scorekeepers.
• Cultivate relationships with area schools, agencies, community members, organizations, City department staff, City officials, and board members, to provide youth athletic services to the community.
• Compose memos, charts, reports, budget, minutes, agendas, bid specifications, contracts or other documents and correspondence. Research, track, assemble, and analyze metrics to present a variety of data/impact.
• Interacts with the public and employees from other departments in person or over the phone, research and answers specific questions, provides information or resolve problems.
• Purchase and maintains budget records throughout the year, balances and reconciles expenditures. Completes and maintains purchase orders, vouchers, approves invoices for payment.
• Has access to and deals with confidential and sensitive information on a routine basis.
• Maintains inventories and orders supplies and equipment to assure enough inventory for departmental usage.
• Schedules appointments, leads meetings and site walk-throughs, safety and risk assessments, and conduct post event evaluations.
• Performs and makes recommendations for the maintenance of facilities including equipment, and expenditures for supplies.
• Assists with the development of recreation policies and procedures.
• Assists with selecting and training of personnel assigned to youth services.
• May organize, implement, and supervise special events (related to youth recreation); coordinate registration; and ensure facilities are suitable to host such events.
• Assist to implement recycling efforts in programs with City run leagues and independent leagues/rentals.
• Performs related tasks as necessary.
Minimum Education & Experience
High school or GED, plus one (1) year of experience.
Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education preferred.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License
Independence & Judgement
Mostly routine work requiring that employee recognize obvious problems; must recognize and resolve problems such as bad grammar and type of procedure to apply.

General guidelines: occasionally requires interpretation of available options to apply to non-standard situations; day-to-day work drives priorities.
Supervisory & Responsibility
Regularly assigns and monitors the work for up to two employees; provides direction and guidance and maintains the flow of work for those employees.
Financial Responsibility
Takes money (fines, fees, etc.), gives receipts, does own balancing; no decision making; authorizes payment of accounts payable based on matching invoices; handles petty cash; makes purchases over $200.
Level & Frequency of Outside Contact
Frequent contact with the public or other organizations; interactions may require obtaining cooperation of people; courtesy and tact are required when dealing with moderately difficult or sensitive issues.
Physical Demands
Office job with little or occasional light physical. Ability to exert up to 20lbs. of force occasionally to move objects.
Responsibility for Equipment & Property
Responsible for assigned equipment/property used outside of office; responsible for handing out to and retrieving property/equipment from employees and keeping inventory; use of a City vehicle.
