Job Summary
The purpose of the Engineering Drafting Specialist is to prepare drawings, maps, and other materials for engineering projects. The class is responsible for producing drawings, maps, and exhibits, researching construction and building plans, and preparing materials and other information. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
• Must be able to read, interpret and follow procedures as necessary.
• Knowledge of commonly used work routines, rules, procedures, or operations.
• Ability to use specialized equipment.
• Answers and redirects phone calls.
• Issues address verification letters.
• Responds to customer inquiries and requests.
• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
• Assist with special projects.
• Maintains and updates filing systems.
• Performs data entry functions.
• Prepares drawing of construction projects and city maps using software.
• Creates and prepares presentations exhibits for meetings
• Research buildings data, street construction, and other plans for international and external customers.
• Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Education & Experience
High school graduation or GED plus one year of experience.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Independence & Judgement
Average judgment; must recognize and resolve problems, whether there is a problem/malfunction with a piece of equipment that needs attention, etc.; may involve freedom in selection of work methods among approved routines, setting of priorities, or sequencing of tasks within established schedules.
