Job Summary
The Customer Service Representative will provide a high level of service to patrons. The class is responsible for filling orders, managing the cash register, and stocking and ordering materials. The class works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
• Provides friendly customer service, information about public transit schedules, routes, fares, and other City services using tact and diplomacy, communicating professionally and responsibly via telephone and in person.
• Must be familiar and able to operate a computer utilizing standard technology such as e-mail and web browser to perform job duties.
• Maintains communication with transit dispatcher.
• Satisfactory attendance and punctuality are required.
• Acts as cashier for the register upon opening and balances the register.
• Manages the stocking of items.
• Cleans the designated area.
• This job may include morning, evening, weekend, holiday, split, or other work schedules.
• Performs related tasks as necessary.
• Bilingual is recommended.
Minimum Education & Experience
High school graduation or GED plus one (1) year of experience.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Independence & Judgement
Minimal judgment; instructions, once established and defined, normally allow the job to be accomplished without direct and/or constant supervision; mostly routine work requiring that employee recognize obvious problems.
Initiative & Ingenuity
Low chance for error because work is routine/repetitive/simple/reviewed carefully; standard procedures: don't have to come up with creative solutions; refers anything unusual to supervisor.
Supervisory & Responsibility
Does not supervise.
Financial Responsibility
Takes money (fines, fees, etc.), gives receipts, does own balancing; no decision making; authorizes payment of accounts payable based on matching invoices; handles petty cash; makes purchases over $200.
Level & Frequency of Outside Contact
Frequent contact with the public or other organizations; interactions may require obtaining cooperation of people; courtesy and tact are required when dealing with moderately difficult or sensitive issues.
Physical Demands
Office job with little or occasional light physical effort, may require brief periods of muscular exertion, such as standing, lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, etc. Ability to exert up to 20lbs. of force occasionally to move objects
Responsibility for Equipment & Property
Responsible for use of equipment/property such as office equipment, supplies, etc., which are used in office.
